i got Spanx-ed
I just finished Sara Blakely's Masterclass and it's truly inspiring and practical. Sara's the youngest self made billionaire and the founder of Spanx, an innovate underwear product for women.
One of the most powerful story she shared was how she went from store to store across the US and stood round the clock to sell Spanx to shoppers. She did this because she felt she was the best one to sell the product and when there's traction the departmental store's would continue carrying the brand. In other words, she was practically working for free. She did what could do to keep that dream alive. A good day of sales meant her selling 50 pairs of Spanx. Let that sink in for a minute.
I am not sure how many of us would get down to this level and stretch so far off the comfort zone. Her spirit and tenacity epitomizes Les Brown's quote: "You must be willing to do the things today others won't do, in order to have the things tomorrow others won't have."
The countless days and hours on the retail floor ultimately prepared Sara for the opportunity she hustled to get on QVC (a direct selling channel on TV), standing live in front of the camera - selling 6000 pairs with the first few minutes. And her feet weren't even tired yet.
If you can still stand, keep walking. Keep hustling.
Here's to the Masterclass I attended:
